Revitalisation fund - May 2008
The community itself needs to raise £15000 towards the cost of revitalising the village hall (this is in addition to any major grants etc we manage to obtain, and also in addition to “normal” village fundraising efforts. This regular “slot” in Beneath Blencathra reports progress and publicises forthcoming fundraising events and activities. The fund has now built up to approaching £13000. We are approaching our target after a little more than a year of efforts. This is a credit to all concerned but also to the village in general for supporting us.
Receipts from the Folk and Blues Night
(tickets and bar profits) n £703.00
Many thanks to the individuals and organisations who have supported the fund so far. Every little helps.

May Day Folk and Blues
This was held on 4 May and was a huge success – the music was brilliant
(the bands appeared for nothing/nominal payment), a lot of people enjoyed dancing,
it was a lively night out, well attended by both residents and visitors. Thanks
to both bands; to Jon Trotman and Stephen Strachan for fixing it up; to Jonathan
Rothwell for setting up and running the sound system; to Dot Benson, Gill Winter,
Pat Knifton and Ros Shirreff for the very professionally presented snacks; to
Jane and Trevor Roberts for running the bar; and others who helped in various
ways. The evening generated just over £700 for the Revitalisation Fund.
