A Parish Council meeting was held on Tuesday 26th June at 7.30pm. in the Public Room.
Skiddaw House Mr. Sellers from the Skiddaw House Foundation talked to the meeting about the future of this building which has reopened as a youth hostel. The Parish Council were pleased to hear that the hostel is being used again, but were cautious and would not want to see any further development up there. The current situation is that visitors need to cycle or walk to Skiddaw House, and Mr. Sellers was clear that this is to remain the case.
A66 Road Improvements Amey Mouchel have confirmed that they will be constructing the pedestrian island and the right turn lane at the Castlerigg junction. The safety barrier has been entered into the “watchman process” and is being considered.
The Future of the Public Room The application for funding the feasibility study for this project was successful, and the fundraising is off to a good start. The next meeting of the “revitalisation” group is to be on Wednesday 4th July.

Cumbria In Bloom This year the judge for Threlkeld will be Stuart Fraser. He will be coming to look around the village on Sunday 22nd July at 12.30pm. It would be very much appreciated if everyone could lend a hand to get the village looking its best on 22nd July. Thanks very much to everyone who helps to look after the village flowers, which are looking great.
Kiln Howe The funding application to the “Breathing Spaces” project was unsuccessful. This will be put on next month’s agenda to discuss the best way forward.
