Village facilities and utilities

Sports & Recreation

The village cricket ground and sports pavilion are located just outside the village off the A66. The sports pavilion is fully licensed and has catering facilities. The Keswick golf club is also situated just of the A66 outside of Threlkeld and has an 18 hole golf course, 6225 yard par 71. There is a bar, restaurant and pro shop. Permits for fishing in the River Greta at Threlkeld can be obtained from the Tourist Information Centre in Keswick. Threlkeld is on the Coast to Coast cycle route (which starts from Whitehaven/St. Bees in the west to Sunderland/Tynemouth in the east).

Parking & Toilets

A public car park & public toilets - sign posted and located behind the Public Rooms. It is free to park here but visitors are encouraged to leave a donation in the box near the entrance, with thanks. Another parking area is designated at Dickney just up Blease Road where the road bears left. No overnight parking here. Out of the village, at the top of Blease Road is another parking area, just passed the Blencathra Centre.

Mobile Library

The mobile library is located in the Quarry side 2pm to 2.20pm and in the layby at St. Mary's Church 2.35pm to 3pm every third Monday.

Rubbish Collection & Recycling

Paper & Card Box Scheme - doorstep recycling collection For the recycling of newspapers, magazines, junk mail, envelopes, catalogues, directories, cardboard and card packaging (eg cereal packets). Place your green box on the kerbside before 7am on the morning of collection. Collections are every other Thursday: April 12 & 26, May 10 & 24, June 7 & 21, Jly 5 & 19, Aug 2, 16 & 30, Sept.
