What is a “Fair Trade” Church?
A “Fair Trade” Church
· Uses Fairtrade tea and coffee at all events/meetings which we organise
· Where possible, moves towards the use of other Fairtrade products eg. Sugar, biscuits, fruit
· Promotes the use of Fairtrade, through magazine articles, sermons and through other activities

The PCC agreed at its meeting on 2nd July to become a Fairtrade Church. We support the use of Fairtrade products, and encourage you to do the same.
Churches Together in Keswick and Neighbourhood
Lent Lunches 2007

The Lent Lunches attracted great support from all the churches, even with the move from Thursday to Wednesday. Some people of course were helped by the change of day and overall numbers averaged 50 a week. There was splendid support from the teams of helpers, who have got the preparation and serving of the lunches down to a fine art. Lunchers and helpers alike are clearly getting to know each other and forging valuable links between our churches.

After each lunch we listened to a fascinating conversation, most weeks led by Jo Alberti, in which 6 people – different one each week – gave us an insight into the passion that drives them in their chosen profession. We are grateful to everyone who took part for sharing their key concerns with us and were made aware that whether involved in a church or not, all are driven in their lives to work for the wholeness and wellbeing of their fellows.

The main purpose of the lunches of course, is to raise money for the work of Christian Aid, and this year we focused our efforts on the sorely stricken region of Darfur.

Thanks to local firms and individuals who gave all the ingredients to make up the meal, we were able to send off £1000 to Christian Aid.

Christian Aid Week 2007

Our joint efforts continued in the huge thrust of Christian Aid Week and the incredibly generous giving of time and money. Through the individual commitment of members of Churches Together the generosity of the community is tapped and harvested.

The grand total of £6400, which again exceeds last year’s is our best reward.
Thank you to all who helped with door to door collections around Threlkeld and the Quarry.
