Sports & Recreation

The village cricket ground and sports pavilion are located just outside the village off the A66. The sports pavilion is fully licensed and has catering facilities. The Keswick golf club is also situated just of the A66 outside of Threlkeld and has an 18 hole golf course, 6225 yard par 71. There is a bar, restaurant and pro shop. Permits for fishing in the River Greta at Threlkeld can be obtained from the Tourist Information Centre in Keswick. Threlkeld is on the Coast to Coast cycle route (which starts from Whitehaven/St. Bees in the west to Sunderland/Tynemouth in the east). The area is also popular with mountain bikers wanting to cycle along the Cumbria way and the back O'Skiddaw routes. Threlkeld is a good base for fell walkers wanting to experience the many routes up Blencathra and the Sharp Edge scramble, not to mention fell runners and paragliders too. There are also some low level walks around the village taking in the flora and fauna of the area.
