Joiners Shop – no reply received.
Gate at Town Cross –Eden Housing Association has accepted responsibility for this gate. Another letter will be sent to remind them about it.
Wind Farm – It was agreed to put a notice about this in the newsletter, encouraging letters of objection to be sent to EDC. The Parish Council’s letter of objection has been acknowledged.
Mr. and Mrs. Parums – No reply yet about this garage. There are two garages on Kiln Howe which look unused.
Threlkeld Survey – This is now underway, and questionnaires are being distributed.
Public Representations:
Judith Cooke – spoke to the meeting about her role as the new Eden parish council’s representative on the LDNPA. The problems with the building site at Town Cross were explained to her. She has offered help with future applications or other issues the parish is struggling with. Red Squirrel signs were also mentioned and Mrs. Cooke will send details of someone who could help with these.
Footpath from Gategill to Scales – The notices are now in place to turn this into a public right of way.
Public Room Update – There will be a meeting with the architects on Friday to discuss proposals for the design of the hall. The whole project is progressing well.
Bonfire Night – This is scheduled for 6.30pm on 4th November. It was agreed to use Kiln Howe.
Remembrance Sunday – The clerk will organize getting a wreath from the Royal British Legion. It was agreed to ask Jeff Slater if he would read the names and Tom Price to lay the wreath. John Hume will be asked to read the eulogy.
Dickney –Mr. Morrison has cut this area. A sign will still need to be organized for next year. Jeff Slater will be asked to make another honesty box, which the parish council will pay for.
New Parish Clerk – Caroline Greenway from 3 Stuart Terrace is interested in the job. She will attend the next meeting and the clerks in Eden meeting with Alison at the end of November. She will hopefully take over at the end of December.
Recycling Bins – There have been several occasions when the paper bin lids have blown open, leaving paper flying around Blease Road. Deborah Garnett is aware of this problem and will arrange for more frequent collections.
Safety Barrier A66 – Letters have been sent to Sustrans and Amey Mouchel about this. Another letter will be sent to Amey, along with a request for them to reposition the “castlerigg stone circle” sign, putting it instead at the junction for Storms. A letter will also be sent to the Highways Agency.

Budget – This was discussed. It was agreed that the cost of cutting the grass at Dickney would be covered by money raised in the honesty box. As there is no easy way of predicting how much this will raise, it was agreed not to assume there will be any additional income from it.
Kiln Howe – It was agreed to budget £600 for upkeep here.
The precept will be discussed next month.
Correspondence:
Street Light at Fell side – United Utilities removed this light as they say the pole was rotten. However EDC are now saying that they do not have any money to replace it in this financial year. They also sent some maps, asking the Parish Council to indicate a good alternative position for the light. The map will be returned showing the position and asking who will be liable when someone hurts themselves, falling over in the dark . A note, with the correct contact details will also be put in the newsletter, so that residents can write expressing their views about this. Mr. Richardson said that he will make some enquires to find out if the neighbourhood development forum can fund things like this.
Cumbria In Bloom –Agenda for meeting in November. John Fleet and Les Dalzell may attend.
Cumbria Minerals &Waste Development Framework– There is to be a consultation about this from 1st November – 14th December. A copy of the information will be given to Tim Foster asking if he would like to make any comments on it.
CALC –Meeting of Parish Councils in the LDNP on 19th November at 7pm in the Wesley Room, Parish Centre, Ambleside.
CALC – AGM on 10th November at10.30am Carlisle Racecourse. We have also been asked for views on the community board. An email will be sent back explaining that the parish council did not feel that the community board was going to prove to be a long term initiative, and decided not to attend.
Keswick Town Council – had written, sending a copy of a letter from a young resident, concerned at the lack of dog bins on the railway path. A reply will be sent to them and to him, explaining the St. John’s Castlerigg and Wythburn is the more relevant parish to contact.
CALC – Parish Clerks in Eden meeting, 29th November. Alison and Caroline Greenway will both attend.
Newsham – Mr. Ferguson wrote about the village green map which shows his house marked as being on the green. A letter will be sent back to him, explaining that the Parish Council knows this is not “village green” and that it is an error on the map which needs amending. A copy of the map and details of the office in Carlisle that deal with it will also be sent to him.

North West Air Ambulance – It was agreed not to send a donation to this.
Radio Cumbria – The Radio Cumbria Bus will be in Threlkeld on Tuesday 6th November at 10.30am.They would like to interview someone form the village, Steve Dobbins has more information about this.

School Board – John Fleet has attended two meetings, one to hear a cannon from the Church of England giving a talk and the other a governors training meeting. Both of these were very informative, and the school is doing very well under Mrs. Horder’s leadership.
Public Room –The AGM was held and the new trustees elected.
Eden Housing Association – the new houses at the quarry are under construction.
