FOUR FULL SIZE TRAINS ON THE ROAD FROM WHITEHAVEN FRIDAY 17TH SEPT

Haig Colliery at Whitehaven are moving an 0 4 0 steam tank engine named Askham Hall built in 1917 to Threlkeld Quarry Mining Museum. Also on the move will be three full size diesel locomotives which are being moved to Eden Valley railway at Warcop on the A66 near Appleby to add to their collection of locos.

This weekend Sept 18th & 19th Threlkeld Quarry hosts Europe’s biggest collection of working vintage excavators. Diggers, navvies and draglines which first shaped our landscape 50 years ago will be operated by dedicated enthusiasts of the Vintage Excavator Trust. Chairman Ian Hartland and volunteers have created a working quarry museum with underground mine tour and mineral exhibition.
