News from Threlkeld Cricket Club - June 2011
After the beautiful Easter weather normal service was resumed and Mays fixtures were badly affected by rain. The Threlkeld Foxes (our Wednesday team) didn’t fair too badly and managed to play four games – winning against Patterdale, a team that fielded several youngsters who played some of their junior cricket for Threlkeld, good to see that they are still interested in the game, and also village rivals Caldbeck, always an entertaining fixture. They lost away at Lowther against a strong side and also, in a very close match, lost against Braithwaite.
The Saturday team lost against Keswick II in Fitz park and due to the idiosyncrasies of the Eden Valley League, were due to play Keswick
The weather has played havoc with the junior fixtures and training. The u11’s have managed two games, losing against Wigton and recording their highest ever score of 378 against Caldbeck, unfortunately The Reminder cut the scoreboard off the top of the photograph! And finally, the u13’s have not played since Sunday 1st May so fingers crossed that we can play a friendly this Sunday, 5th June at home against Cockermouth.
