Blencathra Bowling Club - November 2011
Threlkeld 31 - Ireby 36 (like the Manchester derby with each team scoring another 30 goals)!
A disappointing start to our regular matches was really no more nor less than we deserved. Since the resumption of club nights following the summer recess we have suffered poor attendances for divers reasons and similarly for the match night we were again shorn of some of our good bowlers due to illness, injury and family commitments.
Against Ireby, a team we had beaten twice last season, we seemed to be out bowled from beginning to end and yet, somehow, finished only 5 points adrift. Out of the eight separate games within the match we won two and drew one. Of the home players, Eileen, Marion and George played well (Eileen doubling up as a very passable raconteur). On the plus side, an enjoyable social event.
